Govt to probe allegations on low quality masks at hospitals

The Health Ministry on Monday formed a three-member probe committee to look into the allegations of using low quality mask in some government owned hospitals in the capital.
Reportedly, some government owned hospitals including Mugda General Hospital used the low quality fake masks with the packaging of N-95, according to a Health Ministry press release.
The probe body consists of - Md Saidur Rahman, additional secretary of Health Service Department, Dr Md Aminur Rahman, deputy director, Department of Health and Hasan Mahmud, deputy secretary of Health Service Department (sells and collect).
The committee will supervise the mask quantity based on the demand, stocked mask's specification and the amount of the fake mask.
The committee will also review if there is any low quality mask stocked in Central Medical Store Depot (CMSD). If any flaw or negligence is found, the committee will take decision.
As per the order, the three-member probe body will submit its report within the next three working days.
Earlier, CMSD ordered the supplier company to submit their explanation on supplying the fake masks. Later, based on their explanation the three-member probe body was formed.
