HC: Govt cannot avoid responsibility for dengue outbreak
HC observation after hearing suo moto rule
The High Court (HC) on Monday observed that the two city corporations of Dhaka and the government cannot avoid responsibility for failing to contain the spread of Aedes mosquitos that caused the dengue outbreak.
The HC bench of Justices Tariqul Hakim and Md Suhrawardy made the observation after hearing a suo moto rule.
The justices also set August 28 for passing an order on whether a judiciary inquiry committee would to be formed to identify those responsible for failing to contain the dengue outbreak.
Advocates Sayed Ahmed Raja and Taufiq Inam Tipu represented Dhaka south and north city corporations respectively, while Deputy Attorney General Kazi Moinul Hassan and Assistant Attorney General Saira Firoz represented the state.
