Police recovered six handmade bombs from Khamarbari and Paltan areas in the capital on Tuesday night

Police recovered six handmade bombs from Khamarbari and Paltan areas in the capital on Tuesday night.

On information, the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police rushed to Khamarbari intersection around 9pm and cordoned off the area.

“The BDU took four hours to deactivate the bomb-like object,” said Mahmud Hasan, assistant commissioner of Tejgaon Police Station.

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit told The Business Standard five bomb-like objects had also been defused at midnight in Paltan area.

"We are looking into it seriously. Those were handmade bombs that a vested group might have planted," said an assistant commissioner of the CTTC.

Why the bombs were planted is yet to be confirmed.

The BDU collected some samples of the bombs for further investigation.
