Fakhrul said the government could’ve opened the factories after ensuring that they would follow proper hygiene

The government is not listening to anyone because they are not accountable to the citizens, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.

He made the comment at a press briefing at BNP chairperson's Gulshan office in the capital on Tuesday, adding that the government showed a lack of foresight by choosing to reopen the factories and send apparel workers back to the work.

"It's necessary to maintain the livelihood of people. But it's also true that the infection is moving upwards. The social distancing rules should have been maintained strictly for a few more days," he said.

Fakhrul added that the government could've opened the factories after ensuring that they would follow proper hygiene.
