Govt declares 3-day Eid holiday amid Covid-19

Government employees will have to remain at their work stations during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays

The government has declared that there will be a three-day holiday for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha amid the current Covid-19 outbreak.

"The Eid holiday will not be extended. Besides, government employees will have to remain at their work stations during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays to keep up the fight to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country," Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said while briefing the media after a cabinet meeting at the secretariat on Monday.

The Eid-ul-Adha holidays will be from July 31 to August 2 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) if the Eid is observed on August 1. And, if Eid is observed on July 31 (Friday) then the Eid holidays will be from July 30 to August 1 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday). In both cases, two days of the three-day holidays are weekend holidays.
