GK Shamim and Khaled remanded over graft case

A Dhaka court today placed former Jubo League leaders SM Golam Kibria Shamim and Khaled Mahmud on a 7-day remand in a graft case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission.

Acting Senior Special Judge Md Al Mamun granted the remand when police produced them before it with 10-day plea.

Defence lawyer Mizanur Rahman Molla appealed for the duo's bail and cancellation of the remand, but both pleas were rejected.

On September 30, the Anti-Corruption Commission formed a probe team to investigate the assets of the people who were found involved with illegal casino business.

On Monday, the commission filed two cases against Golam Kibria Shamim alias GK Shamim and expelled organising secretary of Jubo League's Dhaka south city unit Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan on a charge of accumulating wealth through illegal means.
