Gas Fields Company workers go on strike protesting Eid-Ul-Adha bonus cancellation

Workers of Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Ltd have gone on a four-day strike protesting the decision of cancelling Eid-Ul-Adha bonus.

They also staged a demonstration in front of the head office of the company at Birasar in Brahmanbaria on Thursday 8:30 am.

Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Employees Union organized the protest.

The workers went on the strike from 8:00 am to 10:00 am and they will continue this for the next four days.

Murshedul Alam, general secretary of Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Employees Union, said, "We are working at the time of this coronavirus disaster. The company's production has not been disrupted. In this situation, the decision of the management board to cancel our Eid-ul-Adha bonus is inhumane. We demand the cancellation of this decision. If our demands are not met within the next four days, we will call for a strong movement in all the gas fields under Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Ltd."
