State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman said on Sunday that the death toll from this year’s flood has reached 75 so far.

“More than six lakh people are affected by the ongoing flood and the death toll has reached 75 across the country,” the minister said at a press conference in his ministry’s auditorium.

He said the flood has completely damaged major dams of Jamalpur and Gaibandha. “We have given shelter to 174,000 people across the country,” he added.

The minister denied media reports that relief materials are not reaching flood-affected people.

He said proper initiatives have been taken as per the directives of the prime minister to help the flood victims throughout the country.
