Five cops sued over Khulna ‘gang-rape’ case

A case has been filled against five police officials including the Officer-in-Charge (OC) Osman Gani on allegation of their involvement in the gang-rape of a woman in custody.
The victim filed the case with the Government Railway police station (GRP) police station on Friday night.
Kushtia Railway Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Firoz Ahmed, who is heading a committee to probe the allegation, confirmed the matter.
The ASP said that the case was filed under section 15 of Torture and Custodial Death (Prevention) Act, 2013.
The case was filed on the directions of the court and based on the information collected from the victim’s statement on Thursday, he added.
The investigation committee was directed to submit the report within seven days. However, time may increase further, he added.
The 30-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in custody by five members of the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Khulna on Friday night (August 5).
