One killed in Dhanmondi fire
The fire originated at 9:25am at a multi-storey building
One person was killed in a fire at a residential building in the capital's Dhanmondi area early today.
Three people were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as they sustained burn injuries during the fire and one of them succumbed to burn injuries at the hospital, said Parvez Islam, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Dhanmondi Police Station.
The fire, that broke out at the residential building in the morning was brought under control after about an hour effort.
The fire originated at 9:25am at a multi-storey building on road No 6A near the Eidgah ground, said Mohammad Russel Shikdar, a duty officer at Fire Service Central Control Room.
Three units of Fire Service brought the fire under control at around 10:10am, Russel added.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be known immediately, he added.
