Fire kills two in Cox’s Bazar
The fire caused losses worth Tk2 crore as five shops were gutted in the fire.
Two persons were burned to death in a fire at a market of Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar today.
The deceased were identified as Firoz Ahmed, 55, owner of a grocery shop from which the fire originated at 2.30 am on Tuesday, and his assistant Anwar Hossain, 15.
The fire caused losses worth Tk2 crore as five shops were gutted in the fire, according to the local businessmen of the Gorjonia market.
Witnesses said after originating from the grocery shop the blaze soon spread to other shops. A unit of Cox’s Bazar Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after an hour.
Firefighters recovered the bodies of Firoz and Anwar who were inside the shop during the fire, confirmed Abu Ismail Hossain Noman, chairman of Kachhapia union parishad of the upazila.
