Cumilla EPZ factory fire under control

The fire broke out in a factory in Cumilla Export Processing Zone (EPZ) here was brought under control after two hours on Saturday morning.

The fire broke out on the third floor of Episia Interliling factory and spread to the fourth floor of the building at around 7:30 am, said Pranto Nath Saha, assistant director of Cumilla Fire Service and Civil Defence.

On information, eight fire fighting units of EPZ fire service and Cumilla Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after two hours of frantic efforts at 9:30 am.

However, no casualties were reported.

The fire might have originated from an electric short circuit, he said adding the extent of loss caused is yet to be estimated.
