Fire at Rampura substation doused

The power distribution line in the Mohanagar area of Hatirjheel was damaged by the fire

The fire that broke out at a substation of the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) in the capital's Rampura area on Saturday afternoon has been doused. 

PGCB Managing Director Golam Kibria confirmed the matter to The Business Standard, adding that the substation belongs to the Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC).

The fire broke out at around 1:55pm. Seven fire service units rushed to the spot and doused the fire at around 4:40pm, said Rasel Shikder, duty officer at the Khilgaon Fire Station. 

The power distribution line in the Mohanagar area of Hatirjheel was damaged by the fire. Several distribution transformers in Rampura and Hatirjheel areas also exploded. Residents at the Mohanagar Housing Society are yet to get back power. 

"The reason behind the fire has not been determined yet," said Rashed Shikder, adding that nobody was harmed in the incident.
