FFWC, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society sign MoU to boost mutual cooperation

This MOU aims to increase the scope and implementation of various activities conducted by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society based on flood forecasting

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) to enhance mutual cooperation. 
 
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society's Secretary-General and former secretary to the government Md Firoz Salahuddin, and Bangladesh Water Development Board's Director General (DG) AKM Wahed Uddin Chowdhury signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations in the capital on Tuesday, reads a press release. 
 
According to the media release, this MOU aims to increase the scope and implementation of various activities conducted by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society based on flood forecasting.
 
Red Crescent Society believes, through the exchange of knowledge and necessary information, the MoU will strengthen forecasting-based advance action/financing (FBA /F) in Bangladesh. 
 
According to BWDB, with the signing of this memorandum, the amount of damage caused by various natural disasters in the country will be reduced in future. Besides, it will also play a role in socio-economic development. 
 
Among others, Sanjeev Kumar Kafle, acting head of country office at IFRC; Country Representative of Bangladesh and American Red Cross Md Belal Hossain were present during the MoU signing ceremony. 
 
Besides, representatives of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Bangladesh Water Development Board and American Red Cross and IFRC were also present at the function.
