Female patient ‘kills herself’ at Rajshahi hospital

A female patient undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) reportedly took her own life by jumping off the hospital building early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Jesmine Ara, 27, wife of Asadul Islam of Bagmara upazila. She had been suffering from jaundice.

Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station, said Jesmine was hospitalised on November 13 and has been undergoing treatment at ward number 38.

She went outside the ward around 2am and jumped off the second floor. She died on the spot.

Her family members claimed she was mentally challenged.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue.
