FE Executive Editor Shahiduzzaman Khan passes away

Shahiduzzaman Khan, executive editor and chief news editor of The Financial Express (FE), has passed away.

He breathed his last at 7:20 pm on Sunday at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Dhaka, reports The Financial Express (FE) quoting his family members.

"Abbu (dad) has left us this evening, following cardiac arrest," Shahiduzzaman's daughter Shazia Shabnam told media seeking prayers for the departed soul of her beloved father.

Shahiduzzaman is survived by two sons and a daughter and a host of relatives, friends, and colleagues to mourn his death. His wife died a few years ago.

He tested positive for Covid-19 after being admitted to a hospital with a respiratory problem on 7 May. 

Four days later, the 71-year-old journalist was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital as he needed ventilation support.

Shahiduzzaman had been working with the FE since its inception in 1993 as its Executive Editor and News Editor.

Shahiduzzaman Khan also served as the acting Editor of the newspaper for a certain period after the demise of AHM Moazzem Hossain, founder Editor of FE. He also worked with The Bangladesh Observer and The Daily Star.

Shahiduzzaman studied English at Dhaka University after passing HSC from Rajendra College, Faridpur. 

He also studied at the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin, Germany.
