Fardin murder accused confesses

A lone accused, involved in the murder of an HSC student Fardin, has given a confessional statement before a Rajshahi court on Saturday.

The accused Md Rawnak, 23, confessed under the section 164 before the court of Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Md Salim Reja, said a press release issued by Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.

Rawnak said that he tried to hijack money from Fardin who was on the way towards Bornali Intersection of the city to catch the train at the early hours of August 6. At one stage of a scuffle, he stabbed Fardin in his head and fled the scene.

“Police arrested Rawnak with 7.2 grams of heroin from Hatem Kha road on August 7 and was taken to remand on August 14,” said Golam Ruhul Kuddus, additional deputy police commissioner and spokesperson of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Station.

A 15 inch machete was recovered from his home.

On August 6, police recovered the body of Fardin Isna Asharia Rabbi, an HSC second-year student of Rajshahi Government City College.
