The Bayek Government Primary School premises in Chandpur's Kachua upazila are crowded with people who have come to receive the bodies of their family members killed in the fatal train accident in Brahmanbaria early today.

The bodies have been kept there after identification done by members of the Police Bureau of Investigation.

Kausar, son of Mujibur Rahman and Kulsuma Begum, rushed to the school from Chandpur after learning about the accident. He was utterly shocked after finding the bodies of his parents.
"They [his parents] were returning home from Chandpur by Udayan Express," Kausar said.

A passenger of Udayan Express, Shamim Hossain, said: "My brother Al-Amin, uncle Manu Mia and I boarded the train at Shaistaganj Railway Station in Habiganj. We work as labourers in Chittagong. As we could not get any seat, we stood at the gate of a bogie."

"My uncle and I jumped off the train after hearing the sound of collision. I was frantically looking for my brother but could not find him. Later, his body was found under the train wheels," he added.

Chattogram-bound Udayan Express and Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita collided at Mandabhag Railway Station at around 3 am, leaving 16 people dead and dozens injured.
