The inquiry committee, which was formed to investigate the capsizing of a launch in the Buriganga River, will take testimony of the eyewitnesses at 3:00 pm today and tomorrow at Sadarghat in Dhaka.

Convener of the committee and joint secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Shipping Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Khan requested the eyewitnesses to be present at the time, said a press release issued by the ministry.

The shipping ministry formed the seven-member inquiry committee on Monday.

The committee will submit a report on the incident to the ministry within the next seven days.

It will also make specific recommendations regarding the cause of the accident, identification of the person or organisation responsible for the accident, and what should be done to prevent such accidents in the future.

At least 32 people were killed and many went missing as a launch with around 50 passengers capsized after a second launch crashed into it in the river Buriganga.
