The Chittagong Port Authority on Monday recovered about one acre of land in an eviction drive in the New Mooring area of the port city. 

About 150 illegal establishments located between MPB Gate to Navy Gate of Taktarpool area were evicted during the operation led by Chittagong Port Executive Magistrate Gautam Barai.

Chittagong Port Assistant Manager (Land) Muhammad Shihab Uddin told The Business Standard that people had been occupying the port's New Mooring-Taktarpool area for a long time by constructing illegal structures on the port site.

He noted that the eviction of 150 illegal establishments freed about one acre of land. Twenty workers and 11 members of Bangladesh Ansar took part in the drive alongside officers and employees of the port.
