Every household to get electricity within Mujib Year: Nasrul

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said all the electrification projects need to be implemented in time.

"We will provide electricity to every household within the Mujib Barsha," he said, speaking at a review meeting on the progress and implementation of ongoing projects and future course of action regarding the Power Division, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, Power Grid Company and Power Cell through a video conference from his residence.

"We need to be adequately prepared to deal with the impending cyclone 'Amphan'," he said.

The state minister said that prompt maintenance and repair activities should be ensured for uninterrupted power supply.

He directed the power division to monitor the situation of the possible cyclone 'Amphan' round the clock.

Mentioning that 18 people of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) were infected with the coronavirus, Nasrul said offices should always remain neat and clean.

"The guideline published by the Department of Health on COVID-19 should be followed properly," he added.

During the discussion, BREB, Power Grid Company and Power Cell officials highlighted their activities and status of ongoing projects.

Power Secretary Dr Sultan Ahmed, BREB Chairman Major General (Retd) Moin Uddin, Power Cell Director General Engineer Mohammad Hossain, Power Grid Company Managing Director Golam Kibria, among others, took part in the virtual meeting.
