UMSAILS welcomes freshers to LLM programme

The freshers' reception and orientation programme of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (UMSAILS) LLM programme was held virtually Saturday.
Thirty students from different public and private universities from South Asian countries got admitted in the LLM programme with fully funded scholarships provided by Madanjeet Singh Foundation.
Prof Dr Md Sultan Mahmud, acting vice chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) chaired the session, and warmly welcomed the newly admitted students from India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
Eminent jurist and senior advocate of Bangladesh Supreme Court Dr Kamal Hossain delivered his speech as the chief guest. CM Shafi Sami, adviser to the former caretaker government and also the chairman of UAP Board of Trustees, addressed the function as the special guest.
The event was also addressed by France Marquet, principal trustee of the South Asia Foundation (SAF), SAF Chairman Farooq Sobhan, and Khushi Kabir, vice-chairperson of SAF, Bangladesh Chapter.
Former Chairman and UAP Board of Trustees Member Qayum Reza Chowdhury, UAP Treasurer Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, and UAP faculty members also attended the programme.
Three graduated students from the first batch of the LLM programme shared their thoughts with the newly enrolled students. They hoped that students from home and abroad would get a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere and would be fully utilizing it.
The programme was moderated by Dr Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmed Siddiky while UAP law teacher Md Asaduzzaman thanked all.
