University Grants Commission (UGC) has permitted online recruitment tests along with onsite interviews on five conditions at the public universities aiming to continue the academic activities amid Covid-19 pandemic.

A letter signed by UGC Secretary (Additional Responsibilities) Dr Ferdous Zaman has been sent to the Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of all public universities on Sunday in this regard.

Academies are operating online amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Universities will be able to take online recruitment tests and interviews after following some conditions it they fail to conduct onsite tests to carry on the academic process, the letter said.

The terms and conditions said that online recruitment tests and interviews should not violate the university law. Appointments should be made through publishing open circular based on university's laws, statutes, and rules in the context of the demand of the concerned authorities.

There must be a policy approved by the syndicate in accordance with the recommendations of the Academic Council of the University for conducting online recruitment examinations and interviews.

The audio and video files of the online recruitment tests and interviews should be preserved for at least two years. The original certificates of the selected applicants should be scrutinized properly before providing the appointment.
