‘Tougher movement if rapists not arrested in 48 hours’

The Santrash Birodhi Chhatra Oikya, a new alliance of 12 student organisations of Dhaka University today, gave 48-hour ultimatum to arrest the rapists, who raped a second-year student of the university. 

Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Vice President Nurul Haque Nur, also one of the leaders of the alliance said, "We will launch tougher movement if the rapists are not arrested within 48 hours."

The protesters also blocked the Shahbagh intersection to press home their demand.

Earlier in the day, more than a hundred of students at Dhaka University today staged protest demanding justice for a fellow student, who was raped and tortured in capital's Kurmitola area yesterday.

Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League will organise human chain in all universities across the country protesting the rape incident.  

Chhatra League President ‎Al Nahean Khan Joy today said, "We will provide all types of help including legal aid to any victim of such incident."
