PEC, Ebtedayee exams start today

The Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee Terminal examinations 2019 have started today across the country.  

Both PSC and Ebtedayee examinees are taking the English test which started at 10:30am and will end at 1:00pm. The rest of the exams will start and end according to this schedule. 

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Jakir Hossain visited the Viqarunnisa Noon School and College at 10:35am today. 

He said the examinations are being held in a peaceful manner, adding, "Question leaks have not been reported this year. It is a good sign." 

He also thanked the guardians and teachers for their contribution in holding the examination in a good environment. 

Children with special needs are given an extra 30 minutes. 

The examinations are scheduled to end on November 24. 

This year, a total of 29,03,638 students are taking the tests at 7,466 centres. Of them, 25,53,267 (11,81,300 boys and 13,71,967 girls) are PEC examinees and 3,50,371 (1,87,082 boys and 1,66,281 girls) have registered for Ebtedayee Terminal examinations.

Of the examinees, 615 will take the tests at eight centres in eight countries. 

The Primary and Mass Education Ministry sources said the authorities concerned have taken all the necessary steps to hold the examinations in a peaceful manner across the country. 

The ministry also took extra measurers in the exam centres in Barisal, Chittagong, and Khulna as cyclone Bulbul caused damage in those districts. 

"We have asked the authorities to provide books in the respective areas so that the students can take preparation for the examinations properly," State Minister Zakir said.
