Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam today alleged that the protesting students and teachers who have been demanding her resignation are affiliated with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islamic Chhatra Shibir politics.

She made the remark while briefing the media this afternoon.

She said the students were injured for their internal clash and the protesting students and teachers attacked on them (the vice-chancellor and the treasurer) by confining them at home.

"We are shocked by slangs, the protesting students pronounced to our female teachers," she said.

A faction of the agitating teachers and the students of Jahangirnagar University under the banner of "Durnitir Biruddhe Jahangirnagar" have kept the VC confined to her house since Monday evening demanding her resignation.

Tuesday afternoon, Chhatra League activists swopped on the protesters, leaving at least 20 injured.
