Prof Kamaluddin Ahmed made acting VC of JnU

Professor Md Kamaluddin Ahmed, currently serving as treasurer of Jagannath University, has been made acting vice-chancellor of the university.

The Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education issued an office order in this regard on Thursday.

He will serve until the next VC is appointed and takes charge, the SHED said, adding the order was issued with approval of the authorities concerned.   

The post fell vacant after Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman completed his tenure as JnU VC recently, it added.   

Professor Kamaluddin taught English at the University of Chittagong from 1992 to 2018, with a two year break to serve as the English department head and Proctor of Jagannath University.

Again, he joined the JnU as treasurer on 27 November, 2019. He also served as vice-chancellor of Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib University of Jamalpur for a short period.

He received his BA in English from Rajshahi University, MA in English from the University of Dhaka and his PhD from the Department of English of the University of Dhaka.
