President M Abdul Hamid today asked Dhaka University authority to prepare a roadmap to overcome the session jam created due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The President came up with the directive when a Dhaka University delegation led by its Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here this evening, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

Mentioning the significant role of DU in different crucial moments, he said Dhaka University is the birthplace of higher education in Bangladesh and it has a unique role in every democratic movement and struggle of Bangladesh, including Language Movement and War of Liberation.

During the meeting, the DU VC apprised the President of overall activities of the university, including online education activities during the Corona period as well as the activities undertaken on the occasion of the centenary of the university.

Prof Akhtaruzzaman also informed that the admission tests for the first year honours students will be held in every divisional town to ease the sufferings of the admission-seekers.

Inviting the President, also Chancellor of the university, to be the chief guest at the inaugural function of the centenary celebration on July 1, 2021, the VC told the President that a centenary monument will be erected highlighting the DU's centenary history and 300 basic studies would be published on the occasion also.

The delegation sought all necessary directives and cooperation to run university's all activities in a smooth manner.

The head of the state gave a patient hearing to him and also assured the DU delegation of providing all-out supports in running the university activities.

Secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban were present on the occasion.
