From now on, members of Parliament (MPs) will not be able to hold the post of the president of the governing bodies of colleges affiliated to the National University (NU).

The NU authorities took the decision in the light of the judgment of the High Court on a writ petition.

Md Faizul Karim, director (Acting) of the Public Relations, Information and Counselling Department of the NU, said this in a press release on Monday.

Until further notice, the incumbent MPs will be replaced by divisional commissioners at the divisional level, deputy commissioners at the district level, and upazila nirbahi officers at the upazila level as presidents of college governing bodies.

The National University authorities also conveyed their sincere thanks to the legislators for performing their duties properly thus far.
