ICMAB arranges workshop on cost audit in textile industry

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) has organised a special series of workshops on cost audit.

The session on "Cost Audit in Textile Industry" was held on Tuesday.

Lokman Hossain Miah, secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, was present as the chief guest at the event, said a press release from the ICMAB Wednesday.

AKM Delwer Hussain, president of the South Asian Federation of Accountants and former president of the ICMAB, was the special guest on the occasion, while the resource person was Neeraj D Joshi.

Lokman Hossain Miah said Bangladesh is now self-sufficient. Now we are not dependent on anyone for anything. No one stays hungry now, everyone gets food. We have also successfully dealt with the difficult situation amid the coronavirus pandemic due to the courageous steps of the prime minister.

"All our work is accountable to the people," he said, adding that today we are in that position with the money earned by the common man. So we have to be accountable to them through our work.

He described the workshop as very timely and called upon the certified management accountants (CMAs) to play a dedicated role for all in the country and the nation through their work.

AKM Delwer Hussain appealed to the textiles and jute secretary for appropriate assistance to further expand the job opportunities for the CMAs so that they can play an important role in the national economic development by utilising professional skills. He also thanked ICA India for its significant contribution to the workshop.

ICMAB President Md Jasim Uddin Akand in his speech highlighted the cost and management accounting profession and its need in various important sectors.

On behalf of the institute, he drew the attention of the chief guest to the development of the national economy by properly enforcing the issue of making cost audit mandatory in all limited companies as per government guidelines.

ASM Shaykhul Islam, council member and former president of ICMAB and chairman of the Cost Audit and Professional Consultancy Cell Committee, briefed on the need for cost auditing in all sectors of the economy.

ICMAB Vice President Md Mamunur Rashid conducted the programme and presented his views on the topic. ICMAB Secretary Md Munirul Islam delivered the welcome address on the occasion, while ICMAB Vice President Abu Bakar Siddique thanked all the participants in the event.
