The students of English medium schools have demanded cancellation of upcoming examination, which is scheduled for October.

They raised their demand at a human chain held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital today.

Earlier, the British Council Bangladesh informed the schools that it will take examination in October.

The students of O and A level said, they could not take part in the classes properly due to Covid-19 pandemic and not prepared to sit for the examinations.

"There are high risk of getting infected with coronavirus if we attend the examinations now. We have no preparation too. The school authorities assured us of maintaining health guideline, but it will be impossible," Nisa Alam, a protestor said.

"We have submitted application to the Education Ministry for the cancellation of the exams. But we got no response," she added.

GM Nizam Uddin, president of Bangladesh English Medium School Association, told The Business Standard that they will convey the message to the Cambridge and Edexcel boards for considering the situation.
