The online application process for admission into the first year honours courses at Dhaka University (DU) under the academic session 2019-20 is set to begin on August 5.

The students will be able to apply for admission from 4pm on the scheduled day and end at 12am on August 27.

The decision was taken on Wednesday at a meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building.

The admission test for ‘Ka’ unit will take place on September 20, while admission test for ‘Kha’ unit will be held on September 21, ‘Ga’ unit on September 13, ‘Gha’ unit on September 27, ‘Cha’ unit (general knowledge) on September 14 and ‘Cha’ unit (drawing) on September 28.

The admission seekers will have to participate in a 75-mark MCQ test and a 45-mark written examination.

The students will get 50 minutes for the written test and 40 minutes for MCQ examination. In the written test, the question paper will have space for students to write answers.

A student seeking admission had to go through an assessment of 200 marks. Of these, 120 marks were distributed through tests while the remaining 80 marks were for achieved Grade Point Average (GPA) in Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.

A total of 50 marks are fixed for HSC GPA and 30 for SSC GPA. The details regarding the admission process will soon be published on the DU website.
