BDU Vice-Chancellor pays tribute to language martyrs

Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University Prof Dr Munaz Ahmed Noor paid homage to the great martyrs of the 1952 language movement by placing a wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar on the occasion of Shaheed Dibosh (Language Martyrs Day) and the International Mother Language Day on Sunday.

Later, the teachers and staff of the university also honoured the memory of the martyrs by putting wreaths at the Shaheed Minar, read a press release.

At this time, University Registrar (Additional Responsibilities) Md Ashraf Uddin, Senior Systems Analyst Muhammad Shahinul Kabir, Assistant Professor Md Ashrafuzzaman and other university officials were present.

After placing the wreath, Vice-Chancellor said, "Bangabandhu Sheikh Majibur Rahman was behind every success of this nation. He led every meaningful movement including the language movement. He was a wise leader and of the rarest kind. From the language movement to the liberation war, Bengalis were successful because of Bangabandhu's wisdom.

The vice-chancellor added that the first seed of nationalism was sown through the language movement.

He also urged everyone to respect the native languages of every ethnic group and being respectful towards one's own culture during his speech.
