2nd ICAICT held at UIU

The Computer Science and Engineering department of United International University (UIU) has inaugurated a two-day 2nd International Conference on Advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICAICT 2020) virtually on Saturday morning. 
 
The conference is technically co-sponsored by IEEE Bangladesh section of the university will continue till November 29, a press release said on Saturday. 
 
University Grants Commission (UGC) Member and Prof  Dr Md Sazzad Hossain  was the chief guest while Chairman and Managing Director of United Group Mr Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, Chair IEEE Bangladesh Section Prof Dr Celia Shahnaz were present as special guests. 
 
The program is started with a welcome address by the head of CSE Prof  Dr Salekul Islam while UIU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, among others, were present on the occasion. 
 
A total number of 393 papers were received from more than 17 countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Nigeria, Norway, KSA, Thailand, UK, USA. Each paper was reviewed by at least three expert reviewers to ensure the quality of the papers. 
 
Finally, only 103 original and innovative works have been accepted for presentation in the conference. The rate of acceptance is only 26 percent. There are three keynote and two invited talks where the speakers are from the USA, Japan, and Singapore where the state-of-the-art research in the area of edge computing, internet of things (IoT), remote sensing, block chain are expected to be shared among young and experienced researchers. 
 
All papers will be published in the IEEE digital Xplore. Among 103 papers only three papers are going to receive IEEE BDS and Principal Tamiz Uddin Ahmed Best Paper Award.
     
In these two days, the conference continued with 18 technical sessions on scientific research of various topics. The speakers discussed how the future economy will benefit from utilising advanced information and communication technology to meet the challenges of technological development and to build a digital Bangladesh.
