16th non-govt teachers’ registration exam participants want to apply in 3rd public circular

Examination candidates for the 16th Non-Government Teachers' Registration want to apply in the 3rd public circular which will appoint 54,000 teachers at private educational institutions around the country.

The candidates made the demand at a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Sunday.

The circular published on 30 March by Non-Government Teachers' Registration and Attestation Authority (NTRCA) is currently taking applications. Candidates from 1st – 15th registrations are eligible to apply in response to the circular. However, as the viva for the 16th registration holders is not complete, they cannot apply.

In a written statement about this, Mizanur Rahman, member of the 16th Teachers' Registration Central Committee, said, "We have passed the written test for the 16th Teachers' Registration and our viva is almost in the final stages but due to the ongoing lockdown, it is postponed. So, we cannot apply to the 3rd public circular which will continue to take applications till 30 May."

Under such circumstances, Mizanur has demanded on behalf of all 16th non-government teachers' registrants, that the remaining viva voces be completed quickly to let registrants apply in response to the recent circular.

"If necessary, consider extending the deadline by a month," he requested.

Mizanur said the public circulars come once every two and a half years. So, if the 16th registrants cannot apply to this circular for the next two and a half years, they will be more than 35 years old, making them ineligible to apply.

Finance Secretary of the Teachers' Registration Central Committee, Zakirul Islam, expressed frustration over the matter saying that even though two and a half years have elapsed since the 16th registration exams, NTRCA has not been able to complete the viva process.

"About 70% of the vivas have been completed. We urge that the rest of the vivas be conducted virtually so that we can apply to the 3rd public circular," he added.

The registrants at the press conference said they sent an application to the NTRCA Chairman regarding the matter and NTRCA authorities responded that the registrants' demands can be met if the Ministry of Education provides written permission in this regard.

So the 16th non-government teachers' registrants have also sought the attention of the Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni to resolve this issue.

The finance Secretary of the 16th Teachers' Registration Central Committee, Zakirul Islam, and Members Mizanur Rahman, Zakir Hossain, Mihir Bala, and Khushi Khatun, were present at the press conference, among others.
