EC publishes draft list of 10.96cr voters

The Election Commission (EC) today published the draft of an updated voter list having a total of 10.96 crore voters.

EC's National Identity Registration Wing Director General Brigadier General Mohammad Saidul Islam disclosed this at a press conference at Nirbachan Bhaban at Agargaon here.

Of the total 10 crore 96 lakh 5 thousand 8 hundred 34 voters, the number of male voters is 55325292, female 54280542 and third gender community members 353.

Saidul Islam said the final list will be published on March 1 while application for correction of the draft list will be taken till February 5. The names of 13,92,236 deceased voters have been dropped from the list, he added.

The EC has identified 2,07,635 dual voters and removed them from the list during the updating programme.

The commission for the first time disclosed the number of transgender voters.
