DU suspends Sharmin Jahan

The Dhaka University authorities have suspended Sharmin Jahan, also the owner of Aparajita International, from her position of assistant registrar for violating rules by doing businesses taking education leave and tarnishing image of the university.

A press release of the university, issued on Sunday, said that Sharmin got involved in other businesses without taking permission from the university authorities while staying on vacation.

It also mentioned that her arrest and remand over involvement in N95 mask scam also tarnished the university's image.

The university also served her with a show-cause notice and asked her to explain within seven days.

On July 24, a fraud case was filed against Aparajita International with Shahbagh Police Station for supplying fake mask in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU).

Later, the Detective Branch of police arrested Sharmin Jahan, the owner of Aparajita International, on the same day.
