DU researchers again find antibiotics in pasteurised milk 

After conducting another round of tests, researchers of Dhaka University (DU) have found the presence of antibiotics again in pasteurised milk produced by five local companies.

"We have found four antibiotics in three samples, three in six samples and two antibiotics in one sample after testing them for the second consecutive time," Professor ABM Faruque, director of Biomedical Research Centre, said through a press release on Saturday.

Dhaka University's Pharmacy Faculty and Biomedical Research Centre jointly conducted the tests.

Same team found traces of detergent in pasteurised milk produced Pran, MilK Vita, Igloo, Aarong, and Farm Fresh.

"The traces of antibiotics that we found were meant for human use. Antibiotics for humans and animals are totally different. We need to stop the use of antibiotics meant for humans on animals," Prof Faruque said then.
