DSCC evicts illegal establishments in Dhanmondi including police box in multiple drives

Mobile courts run by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) conducted drives in Dhanmondi and Bamoil of Demra on Wednesday as part of a series of evictions of illegal establishments and identification of Aedes mosquito larvae breeding grounds.

DSCC Executive Magistrate, AHM Irfan Uddin Ahmed, led a drive to evict all illegal structures from Dhanmondi Lake and its adjacent area, under Ward 15 of Zone-1.

More than 20 shops were demolished during the drive, and one person was fined Tk5,000 for running illegal shops in the area adjacent to the lake.

The court also evicted a police box on the road near bridge no 8 in Dhanmondi. The court found contents of a mobile hawker store inside the police box.

DSCC Executive Magistrate AHM Irfan Uddin Ahmed said, "People use Dhanmondi Lake to exercise and break up the monotony of daily urban life."

"An unscrupulous clique has set up various illegal establishments here, which we evicted today," he added.

Meanwhile, as a part of routine mosquito control operations, mobile court drives were conducted in wards 15 and 66 at the capital today.

Three mobile courts collected fines totaling Tk51,500.
