It was alleged that Sayeed had stayed abroad without permission from the council and the government.

Dhaka South City Corporation Councillor AKM Mominul Sayeed has been dismissed today from his post over allegations of gross disregard for city corporation rules.

It was alleged that Sayeed had been absent from 13 of the 18 meetings of the city corporation and that he had stayed abroad without permission from the council and the government.

Sayeed also failed to provide proper defence for not attending the meetings.

Previously, there have been allegations that he was involved in extortion and tender manipulation alongside being involved in gambling business.

On September 26, the National Board of Revenue froze Sayeed's bank accounts as part of the government's ongoing drive against corruption.
