DRU protests against death threat to journalist Mainul Hasan Sohail

Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) organised a protest over humiliation dealt to and threats against its Organisational Secretary and Daily Inqilab reporter Mainul Hasan Sohel.

The rally was held at the DRU premises on Wednesday.  

DRU President Mursalin Nomani said in his speech, "Threats against journalists are nothing new. The incident in which DRU's Organizational Secretary, Sohail was threatened and humiliated, is truly unfortunate. We strongly condemn this behaviour".

The DRU president further added, "If, after an analysis of the CCTV footage of the scene, the culprits are not identified within seven days, we will be forced to take strict action."

DRU Women's Affairs Secretary Rita Nahar; former Finance Secretary Ziaul Haque Sabuj; former Office Secretary Kazi Habib; former Executive Members Harlal Roy Sagar, Saiful Islam and Kamal Mosharraf, Senior Members Akhtar Hossain, Syed Saiful Islam, Shahed Shafiq and others also spoke at the rally.

DRU Vice President Osman Gani Babul, Sports Secretary Maksuda Lisa, Cultural Secretary Mizan Chowdhury, Entertainment Secretary Mohammad Naimuddin, Executive Members Rumana Zaman, Rafiq Rafi and Nargis Juhi, former Cultural Secretary Emdadul Haque Khan, Senior Member Saimuddin Nikhil Chandra Bhadra were also present at the event, among others.
