Don’t stop cattle-laden vehicles without specific allegation: IGP

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr Javed Patwary on Wednesday gave strict instructions to the police officials not to stop any cattle-laden vehicles without specific allegation ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
The IGP gave the instructions while delivering his speech in the quarterly Crime Review Meeting (April-June 2019) at Police Headquarter in the capital.
“No cattle marts will be allowed beside the highways. The traffic condition has to be kept normal on highways, waterways and railways,” said the IGP.
He also ordered to take necessary steps to prevent trafficking of sacrificial animals’ rawhides.
The IGP said that the law enforcement authorities will ensure public security during the Eid festival.
“Police both in uniform and in disguise will be present at the central Eidgah field, as well as other main centres to ensure public security,” he added.
All Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs and District Police Superintendents were present at the meeting.
