The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has introduced a mobile app to expedite the process of cleaning up the city following the blood and gore spilled during the ritual of sacrifice, and urged city dwellers to report any pile-up using the app.

"We've launched a mobile app and made it available on DNCC website and Facebook. If people download the app and submit a picture of animal wastes through the app, we'll immediately know over the issue and take steps accordingly," DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said on Saturday noon.

He was speaking at the inauguration programme of the removal of sacrificial animal waste process at Bhatara Saeed Nagar in the capital.

Atiqul also expressed his firm stance on completing the clean up within 24 hours.

"We'll remove wastes of the animals that have been sacrificed today within the next 24 hours. Many people will sacrifice their animals tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. But this time, it won't take 24 hours to remove the wastes," he said.

He urged the city dwellers to get the wastes packed and hand these over to DNCC cleaning staff.

"We'll soon start spraying bleaching powder and liquid disinfectant in the city," he said, seeking cooperation from people.

DNCC Chief Executive Officer Md Abdul Hai, Secretary Rabindra Shri Barua, Chief Waste Management Officer Commodore M Saidur Rahman, among others, were present at the occasion.
