Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam inaugurated the road from Tejgaon's Uttara Motors to Kunipara Runners on Wednesday.

The length of the road is 656 metres and it was built at a cost of Tk2.63 crore. It has a 656-metre pipe drain and a 590-metre footpath.

The mayor said, "Despite having lots of problems, we want to transform Dhaka into a beautiful city. People are responsible for some of the problems, such as illegally occupying roads."

"This place from where I am talking today was not in a good condition when I visited it last year. The problem of the place has eventually been solved."

Referring to cleaning canals and evicting illegal establishments, Atiqul said, "I went to Ibrahimpur canal after getting the responsibility to restore it. I measured the canal, and it was only 10 feet even though the actual measurement is 60 feet. I restored the canal to remove the waterlogging problem."

The mayor urged the people to supervise the restored roads and canals.

"Dhaka will be a wonderful city when the people are supportive."
