DNCC Mayor launches park renovation work in Mohammadpur

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has embarked on the renovation of an old and time-worn park to include all the modern facilities in Mohammadpur in the capital.

At the inaugural ceremony, the DNCC mayor said that the local residents of every age will soon have places for playing, exercising, and recreation in the park.

Renovation work of the park, built on a 1.6 acres of land, is scheduled to end by February of next year, budget for the project being Tk4.46 crores.

The renovated park will have playground, walkway, and washrooms, among others.

DNCC officials said, the mayor promised to provide the residents of Mohammadpur with a park that would have modern facilities, in response to their longstanding demand for a park, as such. The design of the renovated park has been drafted with the participation of and recommendations from the local people, said the concerned sources. 

Mayor Atiqul said that the DNCC will soon open 26 parks and playgrounds for the public after the completion of their renovation, while adding: construction and renovation work of four of these parks are nearly complete. 

"We will open these four parks to the public, very soon," the mayor said. 

Sadek Khan, member of the parliament from Mohammadpur area; Habibur Rahman Mizan, councilor of ward-32; and Nurul Islam Ratan, councilor of ward-29, among others, were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
