Family members feared the death might be caused by the coronavirus as Shilpi had similar symptoms

A woman has died in Satkhira today with fever, cold, cough and breathing problems.

The deceased was identified as Shilpi Khatun (30), wife of Sirajul from Fatehpur village under the Sreepur union of Kaliganj upazila.

Family members feared the death might be caused by the coronavirus as Shilpi had similar symptoms.

Shilpi died at early hours on Wednesday in her father's house at Bondokati village in the same upazila.

Her husband Sirajul said Shilpi started vomiting from Friday night. She had a fever and been coughing continuously. She was taken to her father's village on Saturday afternoon.

Sirajul also said a local doctor treated Shilpi but she was not taken to the hospital.

Shilpi's father Abdus Salam said his daughter had felt pain in her chest on Tuesday night.

Kaliganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Sheikh Taibur Rahman said Shilpi might have died because of a cardiac arrest.

"She had no symptoms of the coronavirus. Her family is not much educated. That is why they are panicking whether she had coronavirus."

Shilpi was buried in a usual manner after health officials of the upazila had given their consent.
