A man has gone missing after a hill collapsed in Bandarban's Alikadam upazila.

The incident occurred in the Tainkala Jhiri area of Nayapara union on Tuesday morning, locals said.

The missing person was identified as Rubel Hossain, 25.

The hill collapsed due to heavy rain when Rubel and three other workers went to cut bamboos there, said Md Hamid, union parishad member of Nayapara ward-1.

He said it might not be possible to rescue the missing person as the collapsed hill was rocky.

A fire service team went to the scene to conduct a rescue operation.

Although the incident took place in the morning, the fire service was informed in the afternoon, said Enayetullah, an officer of Alikadam Fire Service.

Alikadam Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Mahtab Chowdhury said a man named Emongsing Marma, who was hurt in the incident, was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex, but his condition was not severe.
