Criticisers of Brahmanbaria will be sued, warns lawmaker

RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, an Awami League lawmaker from Brahmanbaria-3 constituency, has warned people of legal actions if anyone criticises the district on social media.

The lawmaker, also the president of the parliamentary standing committee on the civil aviation and tourism ministry, made the threat during a meeting in the district deputy commissioner's conference room on Sunday.

People criticise Brahmanbaria on social media, mainly on Facebook, after around one lakh people gathered at the funeral prayer of Islamic scholar Allama Maulana Zubayer Ahmed Ansari defying lockdown on April 18, Muktadir said.

"People started abusing Brahmanbaria on every occasion. We do not know what our offence is."

"However, we will take actions from now on, and nobody will be spared," said the lawmaker.
