5 pharmacies fined for selling fake hand sanitisers, unauthorised drugs in Chattogram
A mobile court conducted by the district administration fined the businesses during a day-long drive in the Oxygen area of the port city on Sunday
The Chattogram district administration has fined eight shops, including five pharmacies, Tk90,000 for selling fake hand sanitisers, unauthorised drugs and consumer goods, and violating health guidelines.
A mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Md Ali Hasan fined the businesses during a day-long drive in the Oxygen area of the port city on Sunday.
A large quantity of unauthorised Indian vaccines, government drugs, Viagra, various unauthorized consumer goods, illegally imported Indian cosmetics, unauthorised hand sanitisers, and Hexasol was seized during the drive.
Chattogram district administration in a press release said that the mobile court was conducted in collaboration with the drug administration and the Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
The mobile court fined five medicine shops - Cure & Care Pharmacy, Bismillah Pharmacy, Hafsa Hanif Medical, Al Mashafi Pharmacy and Iqbal Pharmacy - some Tk85,000.
Besides, three retailers were fined Tk5,000 for doing business without following health rules.
Medicine Supervisor Md Kamrul Hasan was present as the prosecutor in the mobile court.
