Dhaka South, North city polls in January: EC

The elections to Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will be held in January, 2020, Election Commission (EC) Secretary Md Alamgir Hossain said here today.

Talking to reporters after the 53rd meeting of the EC at Agargaon office in the city, the secretary said, "The meeting has decided to hold the polls in the two city corporations (Dhaka South and North) in January (2020). The election schedules will be declared after November 15."

Hossain said the polls will be held as per the existing voter lists and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in both the city corporations.

He said a decision is yet to be taken for holding the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) polls. The polls might be held after March (2020), he added.
